WE may never know for sure if Madonna really did wear gold and diamante cowboy boots underneath her Stella McCartney wedding dress.
Music: Stetson, £25 to hire, Crazy Clothes Connection, Lancaster Road, London W11; inquiries: 020 7221 3989. Leather 'Santa Fé' cowboy boots, £195 R. Soles, King's Road, SW3; 020 7376 8829. Stars & stripes jeans, £77; cotton check shirt, £44 sizes 8-14, both Miss Sixty, Neal Street, WC2; 020 7700 6470
But the fact that she was rumoured to be doing so, plus the Wild West flavour of her latest album, Music, as well as the promo video for her last single, Don't Tell Me, featuring a troupe of dancing wranglers, seems to have been enough to trigger another cowgirl revival in high street fashion.
Morgan, with 52 shops in Britain, has just launched a "Cowgirl" range of studded and diamante T-shirts printed with rodeo slogans and bucking broncos. Miss Sixty has embroidered rodeo-style denim jeans and jackets, check cowgirl shirts with silver stud fastenings and denim boots. Marks & Spencer's new Autograph collection has Wild West-style embroidered denim jeans and jackets. And even Liberty has incorporated one of its classic, small flower motifs into a cowgirl shirt, with silver studs, diamante details and "collar points".
The big new trend is "dirty denim" - jeans that look as if you have spent the past few days herding cattle on a dusty ranch - with everyone from Lee Cooper and Levi's to designer labels such as Sportmax, Roberto Cavalli and Katharine Hamnett getting in on the act.

HelpHound says.....
Had a quick chat with the lovely lady at Crazy Clothes on a cool, sunny day nr. Ladbrooke Grove tube. She has the best fro going on for miles. A great shop for vintage clothing for groovy people. About a quarter of the clothes are outside, on rails and under cover, giving the shop a market store feel and a splash of interest and colour to Lancaster Rd. www.crazy-clothes.co.uk. is a simple stylish web site and I had no idea they were famous. Check the blog - it's gone all pimp and gangster for the boys, apparently. I hope it was Esther I spoke to, outfitter to the stars!
